Bat Walk
Steve England lead a very successful walk along the river and up through the meadow. Using bat detectors our first bat was a Daubenton which was hunting for insects skimming along the river and this one was soon joined by a Common Pipistrelle hunting a little higher through the trees.
As it got darker we moved up into the meadow area where we soon saw a Soprano Pipistrelle and Britains largest species the Noctule as well as hearing the Tawny owls hooting.
As well as telling us about bats Steve showed us oak gaul wasps, uses for Plantain and why not to eat the water cress in the pools (stagnant water!).
I think everyone would agree it was a fun and informative evening.

Otters

Since Otters have been spotted at various locations along the Frome we will be undertaking a monthly survey for the Greater Bristol Otter Group. If you should spot one whilst along our stretch of the Frome can you send us details (Date, Time, location etc) so we can pass them on.

Calling all photographers

Do you have any interesting wildlife photographs taken within Lincombe Barn Park and Woods or across the road in Britannia Woods?

We know that we have an amazing number of species of both plants and animals but some can be quite difficult to spot, particularly now that the area is proving to be so popular.

If you would like to share your snaps or videos please send them to us at lincombeparkwoods@hotmail.co.uk or share on our Facebook page.

Please indicate roughly when and where it was taken so we can record your sighting.

Thanks to Tina Wilcox for sending us this lovely wintery sunshine picture
