The Friends of Lincombe
Barn Park & Woods
About the park
-
This open space can be accessed from Lincombe Barn car park off Rockland Road.
-
The Park runs down to the river Frome with footpaths running north and south along the river. The path to south exits at Frenchay Bridge where you can carry on to the Oldbury Court Estate and Snuff Mills.
-
The Friends Group help to manage the park (e-mail contact parkandwoods@gmail.com) and always welcome new members.
-
We have held dawn chorus and bat walks, birds of prey talks, a popular talk from Secret World about rescued badgers and a couple of fungus forays.
-
Each year we hold an Autumn Clean and a Spring Clean and also regularly trim brambles and keep the main paths clear. See our Events page for details.
-
We have a Management Plan produced for the woods, giving guidance for future maintenance of the area to enhance it for the benefit of wildlife and local people.
-
The Mud Pie Explorers, a fun environment group for children, meets in the woods once a month. For further information, contact Nickie via the website www.mud-pies.co.uk
-
Five years hard work and patience was finally realised when the official opening of the Jubilee Walkway through the woods to Frenchay Bridge took place. The work was funded by South Gloucestershire Council and Downend & Bromley Heath Parish Council.
